Aromatic Lamb Meatball Tagine

As the weather turns cooler, I find myself craving warm and comforting dishes that fill the kitchen with delicious smells. Today, I’m excited to share my recipe for Aromatic Lamb Meatball Tagine — a hearty and flavorful dish that’s perfect for a cozy night in.

Ingredients:

  • 500g ground lamb meat
  • 200g couscous
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 100g dried apricots, chopped
  • 50g slivered almonds
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • 500ml chicken broth
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Kitchen Tools:

  • skillet
  • mixing bowl
  • wooden spoon
  • tagine pot

To start, mix the ground lamb meat with the diced onion, cinnamon, cumin, coriander, salt, and pepper in a mixing bowl. Roll the mixture into small meatballs and set them aside. In a skillet over medium heat, brown the meatballs in olive oil until they are golden brown on all sides.

Next, transfer the browned meatballs to a tagine pot. Add the dried apricots, slivered almonds, and chicken broth to the pot. Drizzle honey over the top and cover with the lid. Let the tagine simmer over low heat for about 45 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.

While the tagine is simmering, prepare the couscous according to the package instructions. Fluff the couscous with a fork and season with a bit of olive oil and salt.

Once the meatballs are tender and flavorful, serve them hot over the fluffy couscous. The combination of savory lamb, sweet apricots, and crunchy almonds creates a truly unforgettable taste experience.

Tip:

For an extra burst of flavor, sprinkle some fresh chopped mint over the finished tagine just before serving. The bright, herbal notes of the mint complement the rich spices of the dish beautifully.

This Aromatic Lamb Meatball Tagine recipe yields approximately 4 servings, with each serving weighing about 400g. Each serving is around 500 calories, making it a satisfying and delicious meal option for a chilly evening. I hope you give this recipe a try and enjoy the warm and comforting flavors it brings to your table. Don’t be afraid to experiment and make it your own!
