Crispy Duck with Balsamic Figs

Welcome to my Kitchen!

Today, I’m excited to share a unique and delicious dish that I recently discovered while experimenting in the kitchen. This dish is perfect for a cozy night in or a special occasion when you want to impress your guests with something out of the ordinary.

Ingredients:

  • boneless duck breast (250g)
  • star anise (2 pieces)
  • figs (4 pieces)
  • balsamic vinegar (30ml)
  • honey (15ml)
  • rosemary (a few sprigs)
  • salt and pepper to taste

Kitchen Tools:

  • oven
  • skillet
  • baking dish
  • tongs

To start, preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Score the skin of the duck breast in a crisscross pattern, being careful not to cut into the meat. Season both sides with salt and pepper.

In a hot skillet, place the duck breast skin-side down to render the fat and get the skin crispy, about 5 minutes. Flip the breast over and cook for another 2 minutes. Remove from the skillet and place in a baking dish.

In the same skillet, add the star anise, figs, balsamic vinegar, honey, and rosemary. Let it simmer for a few minutes to combine the flavors. Pour this mixture over the duck breast in the baking dish.

Roast the duck in the oven for 15-20 minutes, or until it reaches your desired level of doneness. Let it rest for a few minutes before slicing.

Serve the duck breast with the fig and balsamic sauce drizzled on top. The combination of savory duck, sweet figs, and tangy balsamic vinegar is sure to tantalize your taste buds.

The total weight of the cooked dish is approximately 400g, with 2 servings. Each serving weighs around 200g and contains approximately 300 calories.

One tip to make this dish even more flavorful is to marinate the duck breast in the balsamic mixture for a few hours before cooking. This will allow the flavors to penetrate the meat for a more intense taste.

I hope you enjoy making and savoring this unique duck dish as much as I did. Feel free to adjust the ingredients or cooking method to suit your preferences and make it your own!
