Today’s Special: Spicy Peanut Butter and Jelly Wontons

As we transition into the colder months, I find myself craving comfort food with a twist. That’s why I’m excited to share my recipe for Spicy Peanut Butter and Jelly Wontons with you today. This dish combines the nostalgic flavors of a classic PB&J sandwich with a crispy, savory wonton wrapper. Trust me, you won’t be able to stop at just one!

Ingredients:

  • wonton wrappers (200g)
  • peanut butter (100g)
  • strawberry jelly (50g)
  • sriracha sauce (15g)
  • chopped peanuts (30g)
  • vegetable oil (for frying)

Kitchen Tools:

  • frying pan
  • slotted spoon
  • mixing bowl
  • brush

Start by heating the vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat. In a mixing bowl, combine the peanut butter, strawberry jelly, and sriracha sauce until smooth. Place a small spoonful of the peanut butter mixture in the center of each wonton wrapper. Wet the edges of the wrapper with water and fold them over to form a triangle, pressing to seal.

Carefully place the filled wontons in the hot oil and fry until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side. Use a slotted spoon to remove the wontons from the oil and drain them on a paper towel-lined plate.

To finish, sprinkle the chopped peanuts over the crispy wontons for a crunchy texture and extra nutty flavor. Serve hot and enjoy the unique combination of sweet, spicy, and savory flavors in every bite.

This recipe yields approximately 20 wontons, with each serving weighing around 25g. Each serving is estimated to be around 90 calories.

One clever tip for this recipe is to make a double batch of the peanut butter mixture and keep it in the fridge for quick and easy snacking. Simply spread it on toast or use it as a dip for fruit for a delicious twist on a classic PB&J.

I hope you give these Spicy Peanut Butter and Jelly Wontons a try and put your own spin on them. Feel free to experiment with different jelly flavors or spice levels to suit your taste. Happy cooking!
