Velvety Chocolate Beet Cake Recipe

Today, I’m excited to share a unique dessert recipe that combines the earthy sweetness of beets with rich, velvety chocolate. This cake is perfect for any occasion when you want to surprise and delight your guests with a truly special treat.

Ingredients:

  • mixing bowl
  • whisk
  • 8-inch round cake pan

For the cake:
– 200g cooked and pureed beets
– 200g dark chocolate, chopped
– 150g unsalted butter, cubed
– 150g granulated sugar
– 3 eggs
– 100g all-purpose flour
– 1 tsp baking powder
– Pinch of salt

For the glaze:
– 100g dark chocolate, chopped
– 50g heavy cream
– 1 tbsp honey

Preparation:

Start by preheating your oven to 350°F (180°C) and greasing an 8-inch round cake pan.

In a mixing bowl, combine the chopped dark chocolate and cubed butter. Melt this mixture over a double boiler or in the microwave, stirring until smooth. Let it cool slightly.

Add the sugar to the chocolate mixture and whisk until well combined. Mix in the beet puree and eggs, one at a time, until fully incorporated.

Sift in the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

While the cake is baking, prepare the chocolate glaze. In a saucepan, heat the heavy cream until just simmering. Remove from heat and stir in the chopped chocolate and honey until smooth.

Once the cake is baked, let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely. Drizzle the chocolate glaze over the cake and let it set before serving.

This velvety chocolate beet cake weighs approximately 800g once cooked, serves 8 people, with each serving weighing about 100g. Each serving is estimated to be around 350 calories.

One clever tip for this recipe is to add a sprinkle of sea salt over the chocolate glaze before it sets. The hint of salt enhances the flavors and adds a delightful contrast to the sweetness of the cake.

I hope you enjoy making and indulging in this velvety chocolate beet cake. Feel free to get creative and make it your own by experimenting with different types of chocolate or adding nuts or fruits to the batter. Happy baking!
