Today’s Appetizer Creation: Sushi Spring Rolls

As the weather warms up, I find myself craving light and refreshing appetizers to enjoy with friends and family. Today, I am excited to share a unique and delicious recipe for Sushi Spring Rolls. These rolls are a fusion of Japanese sushi and Vietnamese spring rolls, creating a delightful flavor combination that is perfect for any occasion.

To create these Sushi Spring Rolls, we will need the following ingredients:

  • rice paper sheets (10 sheets)
  • sushi rice (200g)
  • avocado (1, sliced)
  • cucumber (1, julienned)
  • smoked salmon (200g)
  • sesame seeds (1 tbsp)
  • pickled ginger (for serving)
  • wasabi (for serving)
  • soy sauce (for serving)

For this recipe, you will need the following kitchen tools:

  • cutting board
  • knife
  • saucepan
  • rice cooker

Start by cooking the sushi rice according to the package instructions. Once the rice is cooked, let it cool slightly before using it to assemble the spring rolls. Fill a shallow dish with warm water and dip one rice paper sheet into the water until it softens. Lay the rice paper sheet flat on a clean surface.

Place a small amount of sushi rice in the center of the rice paper sheet and top it with slices of avocado, julienned cucumber, and smoked salmon. Sprinkle sesame seeds over the filling. Fold the sides of the rice paper sheet over the filling and roll it up tightly, similar to a spring roll.

Repeat this process with the remaining rice paper sheets and filling ingredients. Once all the rolls are assembled, use a sharp knife to slice them in half on a diagonal. Serve the Sushi Spring Rolls with pickled ginger, wasabi, and soy sauce on the side for dipping.

The total weight of the cooked Sushi Spring Rolls is approximately 800g, making around 10 servings. Each serving weighs around 80g, with an estimated calorie count of 150 per serving.

One clever tip for this recipe is to add a sprinkle of furikake seasoning over the filling before rolling up the spring rolls for an extra burst of flavor and crunch.

I hope you enjoy creating and sharing these delicious Sushi Spring Rolls with your loved ones. Feel free to customize the filling with your favorite ingredients and make this recipe your own. Happy cooking!
