Today’s Unique Creation: Savory Apple Pie Pasta

As the crisp autumn air begins to settle in, I find myself craving the comforting flavors of apple pie. But instead of sticking to the traditional dessert, I decided to put a unique twist on it and create a savory pasta dish that combines the sweet and savory notes of apple pie with the heartiness of pasta. This dish is perfect for a cozy night in or a fall gathering with friends and family.

Ingredients:

  • spaghetti noodles (200g)
  • apples, peeled and sliced (2 medium)
  • bacon, chopped (100g)
  • onion, diced (1 small)
  • garlic, minced (2 cloves)
  • fresh thyme leaves (1 tbsp)
  • butter (50g)
  • all-purpose flour (2 tbsp)
  • chicken broth (250ml)
  • heavy cream (100ml)
  • cheddar cheese, grated (100g)
  • salt and pepper to taste

Kitchen Tools:

  • knife
  • cutting board
  • large skillet
  • pot
  • whisk

To start, cook the spaghetti noodles according to the package instructions until al dente. In a large skillet, cook the bacon until crispy, then remove it from the pan and set it aside. In the same skillet, add the butter, onions, and garlic, cooking until the onions are translucent.

Next, sprinkle the flour into the skillet and cook for a minute to get rid of the raw flour taste. Slowly whisk in the chicken broth and heavy cream until the sauce is smooth and thickened. Add in the sliced apples, thyme, and cooked bacon, simmering for a few minutes until the apples are slightly softened.

Once the sauce has thickened, add the cooked spaghetti noodles to the skillet, tossing everything together to coat the pasta in the creamy sauce. Stir in the cheddar cheese until it melts and the sauce becomes gooey. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

For a final touch, sprinkle some extra thyme leaves and cheddar cheese on top before serving this unique savory apple pie pasta.

The approximate total weight of the cooked dish is 900g, with 4 servings at 225g each. Each serving is approximately 500 calories.

One clever tip for this dish is to add a splash of apple cider vinegar to the sauce for an extra tangy kick that complements the sweetness of the apples.

I hope you give this savory apple pie pasta a try and enjoy the delightful combination of flavors. Feel free to customize it with your favorite ingredients to make it your own unique creation!
