Japanese-inspired Sesame Crusted Salmon

Today, I’m excited to share a unique Japanese-inspired dish that’s perfect for a cozy night in or a special dinner with loved ones. This sesame-crusted salmon is a delightful fusion of traditional Japanese flavors with a modern twist.

Ingredients:

  • salmon fillets (150g each)
  • soy sauce (30ml)
  • sesame oil (15ml)
  • honey (15g)
  • sesame seeds (30g)
  • green onions (chopped)
  • cooked rice for serving

Kitchen Tools:

  • baking sheet
  • mixing bowl
  • whisk
  • oven
  • frying pan
  • tongs

Start by preheating your oven to 200°C. In a mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, sesame oil, and honey to create a marinade. Place the salmon fillets in the marinade, coating them evenly, and let them sit for 10 minutes to soak up the flavors.

Meanwhile, heat a frying pan over medium heat and toast the sesame seeds until they turn golden brown and fragrant. Be sure to keep an eye on them to prevent burning. Once toasted, transfer the sesame seeds to a plate and set aside.

Next, place the marinated salmon fillets on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Sprinkle the toasted sesame seeds generously over the fillets, pressing them gently to adhere.

Bake the sesame-crusted salmon in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the fish is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork. While the salmon is baking, you can prepare your favorite side dish or bowl of cooked rice for serving.

Once the salmon is done, remove it from the oven and garnish with chopped green onions for a pop of freshness and color. Serve the sesame-crusted salmon hot alongside the rice and enjoy the wonderful blend of flavors and textures.

This recipe yields approximately 600g of delicious sesame-crusted salmon, enough to serve 4 people. Each serving weighs around 150g and is estimated to be around 300 calories.

A clever tip for this dish is to drizzle a bit of extra honey over the salmon just before serving for a touch of sweetness that enhances the overall taste experience.

I encourage you to give this Japanese-inspired sesame-crusted salmon a try and make it your own by adding your favorite ingredients or sides. Enjoy creating this flavorful and satisfying dish in the comfort of your own kitchen!
