  • 400g black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can (400g) diced tomatoes
  • 500ml beef broth
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 1 red bell pepper, diced
  • 100g dark chocolate, chopped
  • 2 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tbsp cumin
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

To start, heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add diced onion and bell pepper, sautéing until softened. Next, add the ground beef and cook until browned.

Once the beef is cooked, stir in the chili powder, cumin, cinnamon, salt, and pepper. Add the black beans, diced tomatoes, and beef broth to the pot, stirring well to combine. Let the chili simmer for 20 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.

After simmering, stir in the chopped dark chocolate until melted and fully incorporated. The chocolate adds a rich depth of flavor to the dish, complementing the spiciness of the chili.

Serve the Spicy Chocolate Chili hot, garnished with your favorite toppings such as shredded cheese, diced avocado, or a dollop of sour cream.
