Moroccan-Inspired Chicken Paella

Today, I’m excited to share a unique fusion recipe that combines the flavors of Morocco with a Spanish classic – my Moroccan-Inspired Chicken Paella. This dish brings together aromatic spices, tender chicken, and vibrant vegetables for a truly special meal that will transport your taste buds to another world.

For this recipe, you will need the following ingredients:

  • boneless chicken thighs (400g)
  • arborio rice (300g)
  • bell pepper, diced (1)
  • onion, chopped (1)
  • garlic, minced (3 cloves)
  • cumin (1 tsp)
  • coriander (1 tsp)
  • cinnamon (1/2 tsp)
  • saffron threads (pinch)
  • chicken broth (750ml)
  • olives, pitted (1/2 cup)
  • lemon, sliced (1)
  • parsley, chopped (for garnish)

To make this dish, you will need the following kitchen tools:

  • paella pan
  • chef’s knife
  • cutting board
  • large skillet
  • wooden spoon

Start by heating a paella pan over medium heat and cooking the chicken thighs until browned on both sides. Remove the chicken from the pan and set it aside. In the same pan, sauté the onion, bell pepper, and garlic until softened.

Add the spices – cumin, coriander, cinnamon, and saffron threads – to the vegetables and stir until fragrant. Next, add the arborio rice and toast it for a few minutes before pouring in the chicken broth. Bring the mixture to a simmer.

Once simmering, nestle the browned chicken back into the pan, along with the olives and lemon slices. Cover the pan and let the paella cook for about 20-25 minutes, or until the rice is tender and the chicken is cooked through.

Before serving, garnish the paella with chopped parsley for a fresh burst of flavor. This Moroccan-Inspired Chicken Paella is a delightful blend of savory and aromatic elements that will surely impress your taste buds.

The approximate total weight of the cooked dish is 1200g, with about 4 servings. Each serving weighs around 300g, with an estimated calorie count of 450 per serving.

One unique tip for this dish is to add a handful of golden raisins to the paella for a touch of sweetness and extra texture. The combination of flavors will elevate the dish to another level.

I encourage you to give this Moroccan-Inspired Chicken Paella a try and feel free to make it your own by adding your favorite ingredients or spices. Enjoy!
