Exotic Twist: Moroccan-inspired Lamb Tajine with a Coconut Curry Sauce

Welcome to my kitchen!

Today, I’m excited to share a unique and exotic recipe that will tantalize your taste buds. This dish is perfect for a cozy night in or a special occasion when you want to impress your guests with something truly unexpected.

For this recipe, we will be making Moroccan-inspired lamb tajine with a twist. Instead of the traditional spices typically found in tajine dishes, we will be using a blend of curry powder, cinnamon, and coconut milk to create a rich and aromatic sauce that perfectly complements the tender lamb meat.

Ingredients:

  • 500g lamb meat (cubed)
  • 1 large onion (diced)
  • 3 garlic cloves (minced)
  • 2 tbsp curry powder
  • 1 tsp cinnamon powder
  • 400ml coconut milk
  • 100g dried apricots (chopped)
  • 50g slivered almonds
  • Fresh cilantro (chopped) for garnish

Kitchen Tools:

  • chef’s knife
  • cutting board
  • tagine pot
  • wooden spoon

To start, heat a tagine pot over medium heat and brown the lamb meat until it’s nice and golden. Add in the diced onion and minced garlic, sautéing until fragrant. Sprinkle the curry powder and cinnamon over the meat and stir well to coat.

Next, pour in the coconut milk and add the chopped dried apricots. Cover the pot with a lid and let it simmer for about 1.5-2 hours, or until the lamb is tender and the sauce has thickened.

In a separate pan, toast the slivered almonds until golden brown and fragrant. Sprinkle them over the lamb tajine before serving, along with a generous amount of fresh cilantro for a burst of freshness.

This unique twist on a classic tajine dish is sure to wow your taste buds and leave you craving more.

Approximate total weight of cooked dish: 1050g
Number of servings: 4-6
Average weight of one serving: 175g
Approximate calorie count per serving: 390 calories

One clever tip for this dish is to let it sit overnight in the refrigerator before serving. This will allow the flavors to meld together even more, creating an even more delicious and aromatic dish.

I hope you give this exotic lamb tajine recipe a try and make it your own. Feel free to customize it with your favorite veggies or spices to suit your preferences. Happy cooking!
