Today’s Special: Blackberry Balsamic Pork Chops

As the leaves start to change colors and the air turns crisp, I find myself craving hearty and flavorful dishes to warm me from the inside out. That’s why I’m excited to share my latest creation with you today: Blackberry Balsamic Pork Chops. This dish combines the savory richness of pork chops with the sweet and tangy flavors of blackberries and balsamic vinegar, creating a truly unique and delicious meal that is perfect for the fall season.

To start, gather your ingredients:

  • 4 pork chops
  • 200g blackberries
  • 50ml balsamic vinegar
  • 250ml chicken broth
  • 1 onion, finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh thyme
  • olive oil
  • salt and pepper

Next, make sure you have the following kitchen tools on hand:

  • skillet
  • tongs
  • knife
  • cutting board
  • measuring cup
  • wooden spoon

Start by seasoning the pork chops with salt and pepper. Heat some olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat, then sear the pork chops for about 3-4 minutes on each side until they are nicely browned. Remove the pork chops from the skillet and set them aside.

In the same skillet, add a bit more olive oil if needed, then sauté the diced onion and minced garlic until they are soft and fragrant. Add the blackberries, balsamic vinegar, chicken broth, and fresh thyme to the skillet, stirring everything together.

Return the pork chops to the skillet, nestling them into the blackberry mixture. Let everything simmer together for about 10-15 minutes, or until the pork chops are cooked through and the sauce has thickened slightly.

Once the pork chops are done, remove them from the skillet and let them rest for a few minutes before serving. Spoon the blackberry balsamic sauce over the pork chops and garnish with fresh thyme leaves for an extra burst of flavor.

This dish serves 4 people and each serving weighs approximately 300g. One serving of these Blackberry Balsamic Pork Chops is around 400 calories.

A clever tip for this recipe is to use frozen blackberries if fresh ones are not in season. They work just as well and add a nice chill to the sauce.

I hope you give these Blackberry Balsamic Pork Chops a try and enjoy them as much as I do. Feel free to get creative with the ingredients and make this dish your own by adding your favorite herbs or spices. Happy cooking!
