Today’s Delightful Dish: Cinnamon Apple Empanadas

Hey there, foodies! Today, I’m excited to share a recipe that brings back memories of cozy fall evenings: Cinnamon Apple Empanadas. These delicious pastries are perfect for a crisp autumn day, indulging in warm flavors and comforting aromas. Let’s dive right into making this delightful treat!

Ingredients:

  • 3 apples (about 600g), peeled and diced
  • 100g cinnamon sugar
  • 50g butter, melted
  • 2 puff pastry sheets
  • 1 egg, beaten

Kitchen Tools:

  • paring knife
  • cutting board
  • baking sheet
  • pastry brush

To begin, preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. In a mixing bowl, combine the diced apples with the cinnamon sugar, mixing well to coat the apples evenly. Set aside.

Next, roll out the puff pastry sheets and cut them into small circles using a round cutter. Place a spoonful of the cinnamon apple mixture in the center of each pastry circle, then fold it over to create a half-moon shape. Use a fork to crimp the edges of the empanadas, sealing them shut.

Brush each empanada with the melted butter and place them on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the tops with the beaten egg to give them a beautiful golden color when baked. Pop them in the oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the empanadas are flaky and golden brown.

Once baked, remove the empanadas from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes before serving. The warm, sweet aroma of cinnamon and apples will fill your kitchen, creating a cozy atmosphere that’s perfect for fall.

This recipe makes approximately 12 empanadas, with each serving weighing around 80g. One serving is estimated to be around 200 calories.

One clever tip for these empanadas is to sprinkle a little extra cinnamon sugar on top just before serving. It adds a lovely finishing touch and enhances the flavors even more.

I hope you give these Cinnamon Apple Empanadas a try and enjoy the taste of fall in every bite. Feel free to get creative with the recipe and make it your own by adding nuts, caramel sauce, or a scoop of ice cream on the side. Happy baking!
