Festive Apple Cider Pork Chops

Today, I’m excited to share a recipe that perfectly captures the flavors of autumn. As the weather starts to cool down, I love incorporating seasonal ingredients into my meals, and this dish is a delicious way to do just that.

For this recipe, you will need the following ingredients:

  • 4 boneless pork chops (around 600g)
  • 1 cup of apple cider
  • 2 apples, thinly sliced
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon of fresh thyme
  • 2 tablespoons of butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Prepare your kitchen tools:

  • skillet
  • tongs
  • knife
  • cutting board

Start by seasoning the pork chops with salt and pepper. In a skillet over medium-high heat, melt the butter and sear the pork chops for 3-4 minutes on each side until they are golden brown. Remove the pork chops from the skillet and set aside.

In the same skillet, add the sliced apples, onions, and thyme. Cook until the apples and onions are softened, about 5 minutes. Pour in the apple cider and bring it to a simmer.

Return the pork chops to the skillet and continue cooking for another 5-7 minutes, or until the pork is cooked through and the sauce has slightly thickened.

Once everything is cooked, serve the pork chops with the apple and onion mixture spooned over the top. The combination of the sweet apples, savory pork, and fragrant thyme is simply divine.

This dish weighs approximately 800g after cooking and serves 4 people. Each serving is around 200g and provides roughly 350 calories.

One unique tip for this recipe is to sprinkle a pinch of cinnamon over the pork chops before serving. The warm, spicy flavor of cinnamon pairs perfectly with the sweetness of the apple cider and apples.
