Today’s Adventurous Eats Recipe: Spicy Chocolate Tofu Stir-Fry

Hello, foodies! Today, I’m excited to share a unique and flavorful dish that combines unexpected ingredients for a delicious twist on a classic stir-fry. As the weather starts to cool down, I find myself craving comfort foods with a bit of a kick, and this Spicy Chocolate Tofu Stir-Fry hits the spot perfectly. Let’s dive into the recipe!

Ingredients:

  • extra-firm tofu (cubed) – 400g
  • bell peppers (sliced) – 200g
  • onion (sliced) – 150g
  • mushrooms (sliced) – 150g
  • broccoli florets – 150g
  • soy sauce – 50ml
  • sriracha sauce – 30ml
  • dark chocolate (chopped) – 50g
  • olive oil – 30ml
  • garlic (minced) – 3 cloves
  • ginger (grated) – 1 tablespoon
  • salt and pepper – to taste

Kitchen Tools:

  • large skillet
  • wooden spoon
  • chef’s knife
  • cutting board

To start, heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add minced garlic and grated ginger, sautéing until fragrant. Then, toss in cubed tofu and cook until lightly browned on all sides. Remove the tofu from the skillet and set it aside.

In the same skillet, add sliced bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, and broccoli. Stir-fry the veggies until they start to soften, then return the tofu to the skillet. Season with soy sauce, sriracha sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix well to combine all the flavors.

Next, sprinkle the chopped dark chocolate over the stir-fry. Allow it to melt into the dish, creating a rich and slightly sweet sauce that complements the spicy kick from the sriracha. Stir everything together until the chocolate is fully incorporated.

Once the sauce has thickened slightly and coated all the ingredients, remove the skillet from the heat. Serve the Spicy Chocolate Tofu Stir-Fry hot, garnished with fresh herbs or sesame seeds for an extra burst of flavor.

This adventurous dish weighs approximately 1200g after cooking, with 4 servings at around 300g each. Each serving is about 350 calories, making it a satisfying and flavorful meal that won’t weigh you down.

My unique tip for this recipe is to sprinkle a pinch of cinnamon over the finished dish before serving. The warmth of the cinnamon adds another layer of complexity to the flavors, enhancing the rich chocolate sauce and spicy kick of the sriracha.

I hope you give this Spicy Chocolate Tofu Stir-Fry a try and enjoy experimenting with new and unexpected flavor combinations in your cooking. Feel free to customize this dish with your favorite veggies or protein for a personalized twist. Happy cooking!
