Today’s Dish: Caramelized Onion and Pear Tart

I’m excited to share this unique and delicious recipe for a Caramelized Onion and Pear Tart. This dish is perfect for cozy fall evenings when you want something warm and comforting. The combination of sweet pears and savory caramelized onions creates a flavor explosion that you won’t be able to resist.

Ingredients:

  • puff pastry (250g)
  • onions (2, thinly sliced)
  • pears (2, thinly sliced)
  • goat cheese (100g, crumbled)
  • honey (2 tbsp)
  • balsamic vinegar (1 tbsp)
  • olive oil (2 tbsp)
  • salt
  • pepper

Kitchen Tools:

  • rolling pin
  • baking sheet
  • knife
  • frying pan
  • pastry brush

Start by preheating your oven to 400°F (200°C). Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface using a rolling pin and transfer it to a baking sheet.

In a frying pan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the thinly sliced onions and cook until they are caramelized and golden brown, about 20 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.

Arrange the caramelized onions on top of the puff pastry, leaving a border around the edges. Next, layer the sliced pears on top of the onions. Sprinkle the crumbled goat cheese over the pears.

In a small bowl, mix together the honey and balsamic vinegar. Drizzle this mixture over the tart.

Bake the tart in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and the pears are tender.

Once the tart is done, remove it from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.

This Caramelized Onion and Pear Tart serves 4 and has approximately 350 calories per serving. The total weight of the cooked dish is 800g, with each serving weighing around 200g.

One unique tip for this recipe is to sprinkle some fresh thyme leaves over the tart before serving. The herbaceous flavor pairs perfectly with the sweet and savory elements of the dish.

I hope you give this Caramelized Onion and Pear Tart a try and enjoy it as much as I do. Feel free to experiment with different fruit and cheese combinations to make it your own!
