Today’s Special: Spicy Miso Ramen with Cheesy Gyoza

Welcome, fellow foodies! Today, I’m excited to share a unique fusion recipe that combines the flavors of Japan and Italy in one delicious dish. This Spicy Miso Ramen with Cheesy Gyoza is perfect for a cozy night in or a special dinner with friends. The bold umami of miso soup pairs perfectly with the gooey cheese-filled gyoza for a meal that will warm both your heart and your tastebuds.

Ingredients:

  • ramen noodles (200g)
  • miso paste (50g)
  • dried chili flakes (1 tsp)
  • soy sauce (30ml)
  • mirin (15ml)
  • sesame oil (15ml)
  • green onions (2, sliced)
  • gyoza wrappers (10)
  • ground pork (200g)
  • mozzarella cheese (100g, shredded)

Kitchen Tools:

  • saucepan
  • skillet
  • mixing bowl
  • slotted spoon

To start, cook the ramen noodles according to the package instructions and set aside. In a saucepan, combine the miso paste, soy sauce, mirin, sesame oil, and dried chili flakes with 500ml of water. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring to dissolve the miso paste. Let the broth simmer for 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.

While the broth is simmering, prepare the cheesy gyoza. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground pork and shredded mozzarella cheese. Place a spoonful of the pork and cheese mixture in the center of a gyoza wrapper. Moisten the edges of the wrapper with water, then fold in half and crimp the edges to seal the gyoza.

Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add a bit of oil. Place the gyoza in the skillet in a single layer and cook until the bottoms are golden brown. Add 100ml of water to the skillet and cover with a lid to steam the gyoza until the pork is cooked through and the cheese is melted.

To serve, divide the cooked ramen noodles into bowls and ladle the spicy miso broth over the top. Arrange the cheesy gyoza on top of the ramen and garnish with sliced green onions. Serve hot and enjoy the delicious fusion of flavors!

This Spicy Miso Ramen with Cheesy Gyoza recipe yields approximately 4 servings. Each serving weighs around 350g. One serving is estimated to be around 400 calories.

Clever Tip:

To add an extra kick to the spicy miso broth, try adding a spoonful of gochujang (Korean chili paste) for an extra depth of flavor!

I hope you give this unique fusion dish a try and have fun experimenting with different ingredients to make it your own. Happy cooking!
