Indulge in Decadent Chocolate Lavender Tart – A Unique Flavor Combo

Indulge in Decadent Chocolate Lavender Tart – A Unique Flavor Combo

September 9, 2025 Written by James

Today, I’m excited to share a unique dish that combines two of my favorite flavors: chocolate and lavender. This recipe was inspired by a recent trip to a beautiful lavender farm, where I couldn’t resist picking up a bundle of fresh culinary lavender to experiment with in the kitchen. The result is a decadent chocolate lavender tart that is perfect for a special dessert or afternoon treat.

For this recipe, you will need the following ingredients:
– 200g dark chocolate, chopped
– 100g unsalted butter
– 150ml heavy cream
– 2 tbsp culinary lavender buds
– 1 pre-made 9-inch pie crust

And the following kitchen tools:

  • saucepan
  • whisk
  • fine mesh strainer
  • pie tin

To start, preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C). In a saucepan, combine the heavy cream and culinary lavender buds over medium heat. Let the mixture simmer for 5 minutes to infuse the cream with the lavender flavor. Remove from heat and strain out the lavender buds.

Next, place the chopped dark chocolate and butter in a heatproof bowl. Pour the hot lavender-infused cream over the chocolate and butter. Let it sit for a minute, then gently whisk until smooth and well combined.

Pour the chocolate lavender ganache into the pre-made pie crust and smooth out the top with a spatula. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the edges are set but the center is slightly jiggly.

Once baked, remove the tart from the oven and let it cool to room temperature. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours to set before slicing and serving. This tart can be enjoyed on its own or with a dollop of whipped cream and a sprinkle of fresh lavender buds for garnish.

The approximate total weight of the cooked dish is 600g, with 8 servings at around 75g per serving. Each serving is approximately 300 calories.

For a unique twist on this chocolate lavender tart, try adding a pinch of sea salt to the ganache before baking. The salt will enhance the richness of the chocolate and complement the floral notes of the lavender.

I hope you give this chocolate lavender tart a try and enjoy the unique combination of flavors. Feel free to get creative and make it your own by experimenting with different types of chocolate or adding other herbs and spices. Happy baking!
