Decadent Desserts: Caramelized Pineapple Tart

Lately, I’ve been craving something sweet but refreshing, perfect for warm spring days. Today, I’m excited to share my recipe for a Caramelized Pineapple Tart. This dessert is a delightful combination of juicy pineapple chunks coated in a rich caramel sauce, all nestled in a buttery, flaky tart crust. It’s a treat that will surprise and delight your taste buds!

Ingredients:

  • 1 fresh pineapple, peeled, cored, and cut into chunks (about 600g)
  • 100g unsalted butter
  • 150g granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt
  • 1 pre-made tart crust (from the store or homemade)

Kitchen Tools:

  • saucepan
  • wooden spoon
  • tart pan

To start, melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Once melted, add the sugar and stir until it dissolves and turns a rich caramel color. Be careful not to burn the caramel! Add the pineapple chunks to the caramel along with the vanilla extract and sea salt. Cook for about 5 minutes, stirring gently to coat the pineapple evenly.

While the pineapple is caramelizing, preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C). Place the tart crust in the tart pan, then pour the caramelized pineapple mixture into the crust, spreading it out evenly. Bake the tart in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, until the crust is golden brown.

Once the tart is finished baking, remove it from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving. The aroma of caramelized pineapple and buttery crust is absolutely tantalizing! This dessert pairs perfectly with a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

The approximate total weight of the cooked tart is 900g, which will yield 8 servings. Each serving weighs about 113g. As for the calorie count per serving, it’s approximately 280 calories.

One clever tip for this recipe is to sprinkle a touch of flaky sea salt over the tart just before serving. The salt enhances the sweetness of the caramelized pineapple and adds a subtle savory note that balances the dessert beautifully.

I encourage you to give this Caramelized Pineapple Tart a try and make it your own by experimenting with different fruits or adding spices like cinnamon or cardamom. Enjoy this decadent dessert with loved ones and bask in the joy of creating something truly special in your own kitchen.
