Fall Dessert: Spiced Pumpkin Bread Pudding

Today, I’m excited to share a cozy and comforting fall dessert that never fails to put me in a festive mood. This spiced pumpkin bread pudding is a delicious twist on a classic dish, perfect for chilly autumn evenings or holiday gatherings.

Ingredients:

  • day-old baguette, cubed (250g)
  • pumpkin puree (200g)
  • milk (350ml)
  • eggs, beaten (3)
  • brown sugar (150g)
  • butter, melted (50g)
  • vanilla extract (1 tsp)
  • cinnamon (1 tsp)
  • nutmeg (1/2 tsp)
  • cloves (1/4 tsp)
  • salt (1/2 tsp)
  • whipped cream, for serving

Kitchen Tools:

  • mixing bowl
  • whisk
  • baking dish
  • oven

To begin, preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C). In a large mixing bowl, combine the pumpkin puree, milk, beaten eggs, brown sugar, melted butter, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt. Whisk until well combined.

Add the cubed day-old baguette to the mixture and gently fold until the bread is fully coated. Let the bread soak in the pumpkin mixture for about 15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.

Grease a baking dish with a bit of butter and transfer the pumpkin bread mixture into the dish. Spread it out evenly and press down slightly to ensure the bread is submerged in the liquid.

Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the bread pudding is set and golden brown on top. The kitchen will be filled with the warm and inviting aroma of pumpkin and spices.

Once done, remove the bread pudding from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving. For an extra indulgent touch, top each serving with a dollop of whipped cream. This spiced pumpkin bread pudding is best enjoyed warm, bringing comfort and joy with every delicious bite.

The approximate total weight of the cooked dish is 1000g, with 8 servings at around 125g per serving. Each serving is approximately 300 calories.

One tip to make this spiced pumpkin bread pudding even more decadent is to drizzle a maple syrup and pecan glaze over the top before serving. The sweetness of the maple syrup complements the warm spices perfectly, and the crunchy pecans add a delightful texture contrast.

I hope you give this spiced pumpkin bread pudding a try and make it your own with your favorite seasonal twists. It’s a delightful treat that will surely become a fall favorite in your home. Enjoy!
