Fall Dessert Delight: Pumpkin Spice Chai Bread Pudding

As the leaves change color and the air turns crisp, I find myself craving warm, comforting desserts that embody the essence of fall. Today, I’m excited to share a unique recipe for Pumpkin Spice Chai Bread Pudding that combines the classic flavors of pumpkin spice with a hint of chai for a truly unforgettable dessert experience.

To make this delightful fall treat, you will need the following ingredients (weights are approximate):

  • 300g of day-old bread, cubed
  • 200g of canned pumpkin puree
  • 4 chai tea bags
  • 500ml of milk
  • 3 eggs
  • 150g of sugar
  • 1 tsp of vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp of pumpkin pie spice
  • 50g of butter, melted
  • Whipped cream and cinnamon, for serving

Before you begin, make sure you have the following kitchen tools on hand:

  • mixing bowl
  • whisk
  • saucepan
  • oven-safe baking dish

Start by preheating your oven to 350°F (180°C) and greasing your oven-safe baking dish. In a saucepan, heat the milk until just before boiling, then remove it from the heat and steep the chai tea bags in the milk for 10-15 minutes to infuse the flavors.

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, sugar, pumpkin puree, vanilla extract, and pumpkin pie spice. Slowly pour in the warm chai-infused milk while whisking constantly to prevent the eggs from scrambling. Add the cubed bread to the mixture and stir gently to combine, allowing the bread to absorb the liquid.

Pour the melted butter into the bottom of the greased baking dish, then add the bread pudding mixture on top. Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until the pudding is set and golden brown on top.

Once the bread pudding is done, remove it from the oven and let it cool slightly. Serve warm with a dollop of whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon on top for the perfect finishing touch.

This Pumpkin Spice Chai Bread Pudding recipe makes approximately 6 servings, with each serving weighing around 250g. One serving is estimated to be around 350 calories.

A clever tip for this recipe is to use cinnamon bread instead of plain bread for an extra burst of flavor that complements the pumpkin spice and chai perfectly.

I hope you enjoy making and savoring this Pumpkin Spice Chai Bread Pudding as much as I do. Feel free to get creative with the recipe and make it your own by adding nuts, raisins, or even a drizzle of caramel sauce. Happy baking!
