Today’s Culinary Creation: Saffron-infused Lobster Mac and Cheese

Hey there, fellow foodies! Today, I’m excited to share with you a decadent and luxurious twist on a classic comfort food: saffron-infused lobster mac and cheese. This dish is perfect for a special occasion or whenever you’re craving something indulgent and flavorful. The combination of rich lobster meat, creamy cheese sauce, and fragrant saffron will leave your taste buds singing!

Ingredients:

  • 2 lobster tails (200g)
  • 1/2 tsp saffron threads
  • 200g macaroni
  • 50g butter
  • 40g flour
  • 500ml milk
  • 150g cheddar cheese, grated
  • 50g parmesan cheese, grated
  • 50g breadcrumbs
  • to taste
  • to taste

Start by preparing the lobster tails. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the lobster tails for about 5-7 minutes, until they are bright red and the meat is opaque. Remove the lobster meat from the shells and chop into bite-sized pieces.

In a saucepan, heat the milk until just simmering. Add the saffron threads and let them infuse the milk for a few minutes. In another saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the flour and whisk constantly for about 2 minutes to make a roux. Gradually pour in the saffron-infused milk, whisking constantly until the sauce thickens.

Remove the sauce from the heat and stir in the cheddar and parmesan cheeses until melted and smooth. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Cook the macaroni in a large pot of salted boiling water until al dente, then drain and add to the cheese sauce along with the lobster meat. Mix everything together until well combined.

Transfer the lobster mac and cheese mixture to an oven-proof dish and sprinkle the breadcrumbs on top. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for 20-25 minutes, until the top is golden and bubbly.

Once out of the oven, let it cool for a few minutes before serving. This saffron-infused lobster mac and cheese is best enjoyed hot and fresh out of the oven, with a sprinkle of fresh herbs on top for an extra burst of flavor.
