Dessert Recipe: Spiced Apple Galette

Today, I’m excited to share a delicious recipe for a spiced apple galette. As the weather starts to cool down and fall approaches, I love making warm, comforting desserts like this one. The combination of flaky pastry, sweet apples, and warm spices is sure to be a hit with your family and friends.

Ingredients:

  • 150g all-purpose flour
  • 100g unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 50g granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 2 large apples, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 tbsp demerara sugar

Kitchen Tools:

  • mixing bowl
  • pastry cutter
  • rolling pin
  • baking sheet
  • parchment paper

To start, preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, cold butter, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Use a pastry cutter to cut the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs. Add a few tablespoons of ice water as needed to bring the dough together.

On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough into a circle about 12 inches in diameter. Transfer the dough to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. In a separate bowl, toss the sliced apples with lemon juice and arrange them in the center of the dough, leaving a 2-inch border.

Fold the edges of the dough over the apples, pleating as you go. Brush the edges of the dough with the beaten egg and sprinkle the demerara sugar over the apples. Bake the galette in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the apples are tender.

Once the galette is done baking, let it cool slightly before serving. This spiced apple galette weighs approximately 600g and serves 6. Each serving is around 100g, with an estimated calorie count of 250 per serving.

One unique tip for this recipe is to sprinkle a little extra cinnamon and sugar on top of the galette just before serving. This will add an extra pop of flavor and a beautiful finishing touch to your dessert.

I hope you enjoy making and sharing this spiced apple galette with your loved ones. Feel free to get creative with the spices or add a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top for a truly indulgent treat. Happy baking!
