Exploring New Flavors: Lemon-Lavender Chicken with Sweet Potato Mash

Today, I’m excited to share a unique and flavorful recipe that combines the freshness of lemon with the floral notes of lavender. This dish is perfect for a cozy night in or a special dinner with loved ones. The zesty citrus and fragrant herb work together beautifully to create a memorable dining experience.

Ingredients:

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 2 lemons
  • 1 tablespoon dried culinary lavender
  • 4 medium sweet potatoes
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Kitchen Tools:

  • chef’s knife
  • cutting board
  • grater
  • baking dish
  • potato masher

To start, preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Zest one lemon and set the zest aside. In a small bowl, combine the dried lavender with the lemon zest. Place the chicken breasts in a baking dish and sprinkle the lavender-lemon mixture over them. Squeeze the juice of one lemon over the chicken and season with salt and pepper. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through.

While the chicken is baking, peel and chop the sweet potatoes. Boil them in a pot of water until tender, then drain and return them to the pot. Add the milk, butter, and salt to taste. Mash the sweet potatoes until smooth and creamy.

Once the chicken is done, serve it alongside a generous scoop of the fragrant lemon-lavender sweet potato mash. Garnish with additional lavender sprigs and a slice of lemon for a pop of color.

This Lemon-Lavender Chicken with Sweet Potato Mash serves four people and each serving weighs approximately 400 grams. One serving is around 350 calories.

Tip:

For an extra burst of citrus flavor, add a squeeze of fresh lemon juice to the sweet potato mash just before serving. The tangy acidity will brighten up the dish and complement the floral lavender notes perfectly.

I hope you enjoy this delightful and unexpected flavor combination. Feel free to experiment and make this recipe your own by adjusting the seasonings or trying different herbs. Happy cooking!
