Maple Glazed Pork Belly Surprise

Today, I am excited to share a unique recipe that I created for a cozy autumn evening. This dish combines unexpected ingredients to create a comforting and flavorful meal that will surely surprise your taste buds.

For this recipe, you will need the following ingredients:

  • 500g pork belly
  • 1 cup maple syrup
  • 2 apples, thinly sliced
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • Salt and pepper to taste

To prepare this dish, start by preheating your oven to 180°C. Then, place the pork belly in a roasting pan and season it with salt and pepper. Drizzle the maple syrup over the pork belly, making sure it is evenly coated. Next, layer the thinly sliced apples on top of the pork belly and sprinkle with cinnamon. Cover the roasting pan with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 1.5 hours.

While the pork belly is cooking, toast the chopped walnuts in a dry skillet over medium heat until they are fragrant and lightly browned. Set aside to cool.

After 1.5 hours, remove the foil from the roasting pan and baste the pork belly with the juices. Increase the oven temperature to 200°C and bake for an additional 30 minutes, or until the pork belly is crispy and caramelized.

Once the pork belly is cooked, remove it from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing. Serve the pork belly with the apples and toasted walnuts, drizzling any remaining pan juices over the top.

This dish has a total weight of approximately 1200g and serves 4 people. Each serving weighs around 300g and has an estimated calorie count of 450.

One unique tip for this recipe is to marinate the pork belly in the maple syrup overnight for even more intense flavor.
