Introducing: Pear and Blue Cheese Galette

Today, I’m excited to share a delicious and savory recipe for a Pear and Blue Cheese Galette. This unique dish combines the sweetness of ripe pears with the tangy richness of blue cheese, all wrapped up in a flaky, golden-brown crust. It’s the perfect way to elevate your next meal and impress your guests with a creative flavor combination.

Ingredients:

  • all-purpose flour (200g)
  • unsalted butter, cold and cubed (100g)
  • water (50ml)
  • pears, thinly sliced (2 large)
  • blue cheese, crumbled (100g)
  • honey (2 tbsp)
  • fresh thyme leaves (1 tbsp)
  • salt and pepper (to taste)

Kitchen Tools:

  • mixing bowl
  • rolling pin
  • baking sheet
  • knife
  • pastry brush

Preparation:

Start by preheating your oven to 200°C (400°F). In a mixing bowl, combine the flour and cold cubed butter. Use your fingertips to rub the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs. Add cold water gradually and mix until the dough comes together. Shape it into a ball, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

On a floured surface, roll out the dough into a rough circle. Transfer it to a baking sheet. Arrange the sliced pears in the center of the dough, leaving a border around the edges. Sprinkle the crumbled blue cheese over the pears. Drizzle the honey on top and sprinkle with fresh thyme leaves. Season with salt and pepper.

Fold the edges of the dough over the filling, creating a rustic, free-form galette. Brush the edges with water for a golden finish. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the pears are tender.

Tips:

For an extra flavor boost, try sprinkling some chopped walnuts or crispy bacon on top of the pears before baking. The added crunch and savory notes will take this galette to the next level.

Serving:

Once the galette is out of the oven, allow it to cool slightly before slicing. Serve warm as a main dish with a side salad or as a delightful appetizer for your next gathering.

Final Details:

– Total weight of cooked dish: 650g

I hope you enjoy making this Pear and Blue Cheese Galette as much as I do. Feel free to experiment with different fruits and cheeses to create your own twist on this recipe. Happy cooking!
