Exciting Flavor Fusion: Thai-Inspired Barbecue Tofu

Today, I’m sharing a vibrant and flavorful recipe for Thai-inspired barbecue tofu. This dish is perfect for those cozy nights when you’re craving something comforting yet exotic. The combination of sweet, spicy, and tangy flavors will transport you to the bustling streets of Thailand, all within the comfort of your own kitchen.

To start, gather the following ingredients:

  • 300g firm tofu (cubed)
  • 200ml coconut milk
  • 50ml soy sauce
  • 30ml lime juice
  • 20g brown sugar
  • 1 stalk lemongrass (minced)
  • 1 red chili (minced)
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1-inch piece ginger (minced)
  • Handful of fresh coriander (chopped)
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil

You will also need the following kitchen tools:

  • chef’s knife
  • cutting board
  • mixing bowl
  • skillet

Start by pressing the tofu to remove excess moisture, then cut it into cubes. In a mixing bowl, combine the coconut milk, soy sauce, lime juice, brown sugar, lemongrass, red chili, garlic, ginger, and half of the chopped coriander. Add the tofu cubes to the marinade, ensuring they are fully coated, and let it marinate for at least 30 minutes.

Heat the vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the marinated tofu and cook until browned and crispy on all sides. Pour any remaining marinade into the skillet and simmer until the sauce thickens.

Once the tofu is cooked through and the sauce is thickened, remove from heat. Serve the Thai-inspired barbecue tofu hot, garnished with the remaining chopped coriander.

This recipe serves 4 and one serving weighs approximately 200g. Each serving is around 250 calories.

A unique tip for this dish is to add a squeeze of fresh lime juice just before serving to brighten up the flavors and add an extra burst of freshness.

I hope you enjoy this Thai-inspired barbecue tofu recipe! Feel free to customize it with your favorite veggies or toppings to make it your own. Bon appétit!
