Exploring New Flavors: Spicy Sausage Pasta with Pineapple

Today, I am excited to share a unique dish that combines savory and sweet flavors in a way that will surprise your taste buds — Spicy Sausage Pasta with Pineapple. This recipe was inspired by a recent trip to a tropical island where I enjoyed the perfect balance of heat from spicy sausage and sweetness from fresh pineapple.

To recreate this delicious dish at home, you will need the following ingredients:

  • 150g spicy sausage, sliced
  • 200g penne pasta
  • 1 cup fresh pineapple chunks
  • 1 red bell pepper, diced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp chili flakes
  • 1 cup coconut milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Before you start cooking, make sure you have the following kitchen tools on hand:

  • large skillet
  • pot for boiling pasta
  • knife
  • cutting board
  • wooden spoon

Begin by cooking the spicy sausage slices in a large skillet over medium heat until browned and cooked through. Remove the sausage from the skillet and set it aside. In the same skillet, sauté the onion, garlic, and red bell pepper until softened.

Next, add the chili flakes and pineapple chunks to the skillet. Cook for a few minutes until the pineapple caramelizes slightly. Then, pour in the coconut milk and let the mixture simmer for about 5 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.

While the sauce is simmering, cook the penne pasta according to the package instructions in a separate pot. Once the pasta is al dente, drain it and add it to the skillet with the sauce. Toss everything together until the pasta is well coated.

Finally, return the cooked spicy sausage to the skillet and stir to combine. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve the Spicy Sausage Pasta with Pineapple hot, garnished with fresh cilantro for a pop of freshness.

This unique dish weighs approximately 1000g once cooked and serves 4 people. Each serving is about 250g and has an estimated calorie count of 400.

One clever tip for this recipe is to add a splash of lime juice to the dish right before serving to brighten up the flavors and add a citrusy kick.

I hope you enjoy trying this Spicy Sausage Pasta with Pineapple recipe and feel free to experiment with different combinations of ingredients to make it your own!
