Exploring New Flavors with Roasted Cauliflower Steak

As the fall season approaches, I find myself craving warm, comforting dishes that satisfy both my taste buds and my soul. Today, I’m excited to share with you a unique and flavorful recipe for Roasted Cauliflower Steak. This dish is a delightful twist on a classic vegetable preparation, perfect for a cozy evening at home or a fancy dinner party with friends.

Ingredients:

  • 1 medium cauliflower head
  • 10g smoked paprika
  • 5g sumac
  • 15ml pomegranate molasses
  • 20g toasted pine nuts
  • a handful of fresh parsley, chopped
  • 30ml olive oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Kitchen Tools:

  • Chef’s knife
  • Cutting board
  • Baking sheet
  • Mixing bowl
  • Brush
  • Oven

To start, preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F). Trim the leaves and stem from the cauliflower, then slice it vertically into 1-inch thick steaks. Place the cauliflower steaks on a baking sheet.

In a small mixing bowl, combine the smoked paprika, sumac, pomegranate molasses, olive oil, salt, and pepper. Brush this mixture generously over both sides of the cauliflower steaks, ensuring they are well coated with the flavorful marinade.

Roast the cauliflower in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until tender and golden brown. While the cauliflower is roasting, toast the pine nuts in a dry pan until fragrant and lightly browned.

Once the cauliflower steaks are done, remove them from the oven and sprinkle with the toasted pine nuts and fresh parsley. Drizzle any remaining marinade over the top for an extra burst of flavor.

Serve the Roasted Cauliflower Steaks hot, garnished with additional parsley if desired. This dish is best enjoyed fresh out of the oven, when the cauliflower is perfectly tender and the flavors are at their peak.

The total weight of the cooked dish is approximately 600g, with 4 servings. Each serving has an average weight of 150g and contains approximately 200 calories.

One unique tip for this recipe is to sprinkle a little bit of lemon zest over the cauliflower steaks before serving. The citrusy brightness of the zest adds a refreshing twist to the dish that perfectly complements the rich earthiness of the roasted cauliflower.

I encourage you to give this Roasted Cauliflower Steak recipe a try and make it your own by experimenting with different spice blends or toppings. It’s a simple yet elegant dish that will surely impress your family and friends. Enjoy!
