Today’s Delight: Spicy Shrimp and Mango Tacos

Imagine a sunny beach day with the sound of waves crashing in the distance. That’s the vibe I’m bringing to my kitchen today with these Spicy Shrimp and Mango Tacos. The burst of flavors in every bite will transport you to a tropical paradise, making it the perfect dish for a laid-back summer evening with friends or family.

Ingredients:

  • 400g medium shrimp (peeled and deveined)
  • 1 ripe mango (diced)
  • 1/2 red onion (thinly sliced)
  • 1 jalapeno (seeded and diced)
  • 1 lime (juiced)
  • 1/4 cup cilantro (chopped)
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 8 small tortillas

Kitchen Tools:

  • skillet
  • cutting board
  • knife
  • mixing bowl
  • tongs

Start by heating olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the shrimp and season with cumin, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Cook the shrimp for 2-3 minutes on each side until pink and cooked through. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.

In the same skillet, add the diced mango, red onion, jalapeno, and lime juice. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the onions are translucent and the mango is slightly caramelized. Return the cooked shrimp to the skillet and toss everything together. Remove from heat and stir in chopped cilantro.

To assemble the tacos, warm the tortillas in a dry skillet for a few seconds on each side. Spoon the spicy shrimp and mango mixture onto each tortilla and serve hot. Feel free to add a squeeze of lime juice or a dollop of sour cream on top for extra flavor.

The total weight of the cooked dish is approximately 1200g. This recipe makes 8 servings, with each serving weighing around 150g. One serving of these Spicy Shrimp and Mango Tacos is approximately 250 calories.

One unusual tip to enhance the flavors of these tacos is to sprinkle a pinch of smoked paprika on top before serving. It adds a subtle smokiness that complements the sweetness of the mango and the heat of the jalapeno perfectly.

I hope you enjoy making these Spicy Shrimp and Mango Tacos as much as I do. Don’t be afraid to play around with the ingredients and spice levels to suit your taste. Bon appétit!
