Today’s Culinary Delight: Spicy Asian Rice Balls

Welcome, fellow food enthusiasts! Today, I am excited to share with you a unique and delicious recipe for Spicy Asian Rice Balls. This dish is perfect for when you’re craving something savory with a kick of heat. The combination of Asian flavors and textures in this dish will surely transport your taste buds to a whole new level of culinary delight.

Ingredients:

  • short-grain rice (300g)
  • water (600ml)
  • soy sauce (50ml)
  • sriracha sauce (30ml)
  • ground pork (200g)
  • green onions (3, finely chopped)
  • garlic (3 cloves, minced)
  • fresh ginger (1-inch piece, grated)
  • sesame oil (15ml)
  • cornstarch (30g)
  • salt (to taste)
  • black pepper (to taste)
  • vegetable oil (for frying)

Kitchen Tools:

  • rice cooker
  • mixing bowl
  • frying pan
  • wooden spoon
  • measuring cups

To start, cook the short-grain rice in a rice cooker according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Once cooked, transfer the rice to a large mixing bowl and allow it to cool slightly. In a separate bowl, combine the soy sauce, sriracha sauce, salt, and black pepper. Pour this mixture over the cooked rice and stir until well combined.

In a frying pan, heat some vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the ground pork and cook until browned. Next, add the green onions, garlic, and grated ginger to the pan. Cook for a few minutes until fragrant. Stir in the sesame oil and cornstarch to thicken the mixture.

Take a small amount of the seasoned rice in your hands and form it into a ball. Make an indentation in the center of the ball and fill it with the pork mixture. Seal the rice ball and gently form it into a round shape. Repeat this process with the remaining rice and pork mixture.

Heat some vegetable oil in a frying pan and fry the rice balls until golden brown and crispy on all sides. Serve the Spicy Asian Rice Balls hot with extra soy sauce or sriracha for dipping.

The approximate total weight of the cooked dish is 950g, with 4 servings. Each serving weighs around 237g, and the estimated calorie count per serving is 380 calories.

Pro tip: For an extra kick of heat, sprinkle some crushed red pepper flakes over the fried rice balls before serving. This will take the dish to a whole new spicy level!

I hope you enjoy making and savoring these Spicy Asian Rice Balls as much as I do. Feel free to get creative with the ingredients and adjust the spice level to suit your taste preferences. Happy cooking!
