Strawberry Basil Caprese Salad: A Seasonal Fusion Delight!

Welcome to my Seasonal Fusion Kitchen!

Hey there, foodies! Today, I’m excited to share a delicious dish that combines the flavors of spring and summer in a unique and unexpected way. This recipe was inspired by a recent trip to the farmer’s market where I found the most amazing fresh produce that just begged to be combined in a new and creative way.

For this dish, we’ll be making a Strawberry Basil Caprese Salad with a Balsamic Reduction. Yes, you read that right – strawberries in a Caprese salad! Trust me, the sweet and tangy flavors of the strawberries paired with the classic combination of basil, mozzarella, and balsamic reduction will absolutely blow your mind.

To start, gather the following ingredients:

  • 200g fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 50g fresh basil leaves
  • 200g fresh mozzarella, sliced
  • 50ml balsamic vinegar
  • 15ml honey
  • 30ml olive oil
  • to taste

Next, equip yourself with the following kitchen tools:

  • chef’s knife
  • cutting board
  • small saucepan
  • whisk
  • plate

In a small saucepan, combine the balsamic vinegar and honey. Bring the mixture to a simmer over low heat, stirring occasionally, until it reaches a thick, syrupy consistency. This will take about 10-15 minutes. Set the balsamic reduction aside to cool.

On a large plate, arrange the fresh mozzarella slices, alternating with the strawberry slices. Tuck the fresh basil leaves in between the layers of cheese and strawberries. Drizzle the olive oil over the top and season with salt and pepper.

Once the balsamic reduction has cooled slightly, drizzle it over the salad. The sweet and tangy flavors of the reduction will complement the strawberries and basil perfectly.

This Strawberry Basil Caprese Salad weighs approximately 500g in total, serves 4 people, with each serving weighing around 125g. An estimated calorie count per serving is 150 calories.

Pro tip: For an extra flavor boost, try adding a sprinkle of balsamic glaze flavored sea salt over the finished salad before serving. It’s a small touch that adds a big punch of flavor!

I hope you give this unique Seasonal Fusion dish a try and enjoy the surprising combination of flavors. Feel free to get creative and make it your own by adding nuts, swapping the cheese, or experimenting with different herbs. Happy cooking!
