Introduction

Hey everyone! Today, I’m excited to share a unique fusion recipe that combines the flavors of Italy and Japan in a tasty dish that will surely surprise your taste buds. This dish is perfect for a cozy night in or a special dinner with loved ones.

Ingredients

  • sushi rice
  • canned tomatoes
  • mozzarella cheese
  • avocado
  • salmon fillet
  • basil leaves
  • soy sauce
  • rice vinegar
  • garlic cloves
  • sesame oil
  • mirin
  • sugar

Preparation

Start by cooking the sushi rice according to the package instructions. In a saucepan, combine the canned tomatoes, minced garlic, soy sauce, rice vinegar, mirin, sugar, and sesame oil. Let it simmer for about 15 minutes until it thickens.

While the sauce is simmering, preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Slice the avocado and mozzarella cheese. Cut the salmon fillet into small cubes. Layer the cooked sushi rice in a baking dish, followed by the avocado slices, salmon cubes, and mozzarella cheese.

Once the tomato sauce has thickened, pour it over the layered ingredients in the baking dish. Bake in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly. Remove from the oven and garnish with fresh basil leaves.

Serving

This Italian-Japanese fusion dish weighs approximately 800g in total and serves 4 people. Each serving is around 200g, with an estimated calorie count of 350 per portion.

Tips

For an extra burst of flavor, try adding a sprinkle of furikake (Japanese seasoning) on top of the dish before serving. It will add a delicious umami kick that will elevate the overall taste.
