Today’s Unique Dish: Spicy Mango Shrimp Tacos

Growing up in a coastal town, seafood has always held a special place in my heart. As the summer heat rolls in, I find myself craving light and refreshing meals that still pack a punch of flavor. That’s why today, I’m excited to share my recipe for Spicy Mango Shrimp Tacos. This dish combines the sweetness of ripe mangos with the kick of spicy shrimp, creating a perfect balance of flavors that will transport you to a tropical paradise with every bite.

Ingredients:

  • shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • ripe mango, diced
  • jalapeno, thinly sliced
  • red onion, thinly sliced
  • cilantro, chopped
  • lime, juiced
  • cumin
  • chili powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • small corn tortillas

Kitchen Tools:

  • skillet
  • cutting board
  • knife
  • mixing bowl
  • spatula

To start, heat a skillet over medium heat and add the shrimp, cumin, chili powder, salt, and pepper. Cook the shrimp for 2-3 minutes on each side until they are pink and cooked through. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set them aside.

In a mixing bowl, combine the diced mango, sliced jalapeno, red onion, chopped cilantro, and lime juice. Mix well to combine all the flavors.

Warm the corn tortillas in the skillet for about 30 seconds on each side. Assemble your tacos by layering the spicy mango salsa on the bottom, then topping with the cooked shrimp. Garnish with additional cilantro and a squeeze of lime juice.

The total weight of the cooked dish is approximately 560g, with 4 servings. Each serving weighs around 140g, with an estimated calorie count of 200 per serving.

One unique tip for this dish is to char the corn tortillas slightly over an open flame for added flavor and texture. This extra step will take your tacos to the next level and impress your guests with a smoky element.

I encourage you to give these Spicy Mango Shrimp Tacos a try and feel free to customize them to your liking. Whether you add avocado, swap the shrimp for chicken, or increase the heat with extra jalapenos, make this dish your own and enjoy a taste of the tropics right at home.
