Today’s Culinary Adventure: Pineapple Upside-Down Pancakes

As the summer heat starts to kick in, I find myself craving a tropical treat that reminds me of lazy days on the beach. That’s why I decided to create a unique twist on a classic breakfast favorite: Pineapple Upside-Down Pancakes! This delightful dish combines the sweet and tangy flavors of pineapple with fluffy, golden pancakes for a mouthwatering experience that will transport you to a sunny paradise with every bite.

For this recipe, you will need the following ingredients:

  • 240g all-purpose flour
  • 10g baking powder
  • 5g salt
  • 30g sugar
  • 300ml milk
  • 1 egg
  • 30g butter, melted
  • 4 pineapple slices
  • 50g brown sugar
  • 4 maraschino cherries

You will also need the following kitchen tools:

  • mixing bowl
  • whisk
  • skillet
  • spatula

Start by mixing the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar in a large bowl. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, and melted butter. Gradually pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.

Next, heat a skillet over medium heat and lightly grease it with butter. Place a pineapple slice in the center of the skillet and sprinkle brown sugar over the top. Pour a ladle of pancake batter over the pineapple slice, covering it completely. Cook for 2-3 minutes until bubbles form on the surface, then carefully flip the pancake and cook for another 2-3 minutes until golden brown.

Once cooked, carefully flip the pancake onto a plate so that the pineapple slice is facing up. Top with a maraschino cherry for an extra burst of sweetness.

The total weight of the cooked dish is approximately 400g, with 4 servings at around 100g each. Each serving is estimated to be around 250 calories.

A clever tip for this recipe is to use fresh pineapple slices for a juicier and more vibrant flavor. You can also experiment with different fruit toppings like mango or kiwi for a fun twist on this delicious dish.

I hope you give these Pineapple Upside-Down Pancakes a try and enjoy a taste of summer for breakfast. Feel free to get creative and make it your own by adding your favorite fruits or toppings. Happy cooking!
