Today’s Exotic Dessert: Saffron Pistachio Baklava Cups

Hello, wonderful readers! Today, I am excited to share with you a unique and delightful dessert recipe that combines the rich flavors of saffron and pistachio in a bite-sized treat. Whether you’re looking to impress guests at a dinner party or simply indulge in a special treat for yourself, these saffron pistachio baklava cups are sure to satisfy your sweet tooth.

For this recipe, you will need the following ingredients:

  • filo pastry sheets (150g)
  • butter (100g, melted)
  • pistachios (100g, finely chopped)
  • sugar (50g)
  • saffron threads (1/2 tsp, steeped in 1 tbsp hot water)
  • honey (50g)

To prepare this decadent dessert, you will need the following kitchen tools:

  • muffin tin
  • pastry brush
  • mixing bowl
  • knife

Start by preheating your oven to 350°F (180°C) and greasing the muffin tin. Cut the filo pastry sheets into squares that fit into the muffin tin wells. Place a square of filo pastry into each well, brushing each layer with melted butter as you stack them.

In a mixing bowl, combine the finely chopped pistachios, sugar, and steeped saffron threads. Spoon this pistachio mixture into the filo pastry cups, dividing it evenly among them.

Bake the baklava cups in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and crisp.

While the baklava cups are baking, heat the honey in a small saucepan until warmed through. Once the baklava cups are done, drizzle the warm honey over the top of each cup.

Allow the baklava cups to cool slightly before serving. The combination of buttery filo pastry, crunchy pistachios, fragrant saffron, and sweet honey is truly a delight for the senses.

The approximate total weight of the cooked dish is 400g, with 12 servings. Each serving weighs approximately 33g, and has an estimated calorie count of 150 per serving.

One clever tip for this recipe is to sprinkle some additional chopped pistachios on top of the baklava cups before serving for an added crunch and visual appeal.

I hope you enjoy making and indulging in these saffron pistachio baklava cups as much as I do. Feel free to customize the recipe with your favorite nuts or spices to make it your own. Happy baking!
