Today’s Fusion Creation: Miso Carbonara with Shiitake Mushrooms

As the weather starts to cool down and fall approaches, I find myself craving comforting dishes with a unique twist. That’s why I’m sharing my latest fusion creation with you today — Miso Carbonara with Shiitake Mushrooms. This dish combines the creamy richness of traditional carbonara with the umami-packed flavor of miso and earthy shiitake mushrooms for a truly unforgettable dining experience.

To make this dish, you’ll need the following ingredients:

  • spaghetti (200g)
  • miso paste (50g)
  • egg yolks (3)
  • parmesan cheese (50g)
  • shiitake mushrooms (150g)
  • garlic (2 cloves)
  • olive oil (2 tbsp)
  • black pepper
  • fresh parsley

For this recipe, you’ll need the following kitchen tools:

  • pot
  • frying pan
  • whisk
  • grater
  • knife

Start by boiling water in a pot and cooking the spaghetti according to the package instructions. While the pasta is cooking, heat olive oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sliced shiitake mushrooms, cooking until the mushrooms are golden brown and slightly crispy.

In a separate bowl, whisk together miso paste, egg yolks, grated parmesan cheese, and a generous amount of black pepper. Once the spaghetti is al dente, drain it and add it to the frying pan with the mushrooms. Pour the miso carbonara sauce over the pasta, tossing everything together until well coated.

Serve the Miso Carbonara with Shiitake Mushrooms hot, garnished with freshly chopped parsley and an extra sprinkle of parmesan cheese. The combination of the creamy miso sauce, earthy shiitake mushrooms, and savory parmesan creates a truly unique and unforgettable flavor profile.

This dish weighs approximately 800g once cooked and serves 4 people. Each serving is around 200g, with an estimated calorie count of 400 per portion.

One clever tip for this recipe is to reserve some pasta cooking water before draining the spaghetti. Adding a splash of this starchy water to the miso carbonara sauce can help emulsify and bind the ingredients together, creating a silkier texture.

I hope you enjoy creating and savoring this Miso Carbonara with Shiitake Mushrooms as much as I do. Feel free to experiment with different types of mushrooms or add your own twist to make this fusion dish truly your own. Happy cooking!
