Today, I’m excited to share a new creation of mine that combines sweet and spicy flavors in a delightful appetizer. These Sweet and Spicy Plantain Bites are perfect for a gathering or as a unique snack to enjoy any time of day.

Ingredients:

  • 2 ripe plantains (approx. 400g)
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1 lime, juiced

Kitchen Tools:

  • baking sheet

  • oven

To start, preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Peel the plantains and cut them into bite-sized pieces. In a mixing bowl, combine the honey, chili powder, sea salt, and lime juice. Add the plantain pieces to the mixture and toss until evenly coated.

Spread the coated plantain pieces on a baking sheet in a single layer. Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the plantains are caramelized and slightly crispy.

Once the plantain bites are done baking, remove them from the oven and sprinkle with chopped cilantro. The aroma of the sweet and spicy flavors will fill your kitchen, tempting you to dive into these delectable bites right away.
